We stock and install Viking-compatible welding and fabrication parts for gate systems across Hempstead, with most welded repairs and fabricated brackets running $210 to $580 installed depending on the part and the damage. We keep common Viking hinge assemblies, gate frame reinforcements, and weld-on brackets on the truck, so most jobs are done same-day. You usually find out a weld failed or a fabricated bracket cracked the hard way: the gate sags, drags on the concrete, or stops closing square against the post. Sometimes you’ll hear a creak that gets worse every cycle until the gate binds. By the time most Hempstead homeowners call us, the gate has already started scraping the driveway or pulling hard against the motor.
If that’s where you are, you’re in the right place. We work on Viking gate systems regularly, and we know which parts hold up and which ones fail first in this climate.
Which Viking Models This Applies To
Viking gate operators and hardware show up most often on residential swing gates and light commercial slide gates in Hempstead, and the welding and fabrication work we do falls into three categories: weld-on hinge assemblies, fabricated mounting brackets for operators, and frame repairs on the gate itself. Viking systems use a bolt-on hinge design on some models and a welded hinge barrel on others. Before we touch anything, we check the operator model plate, which is usually mounted on the inside of the control box or on the operator arm itself. The model number plus a measurement of the gate leaf weight and width tells us which bracket or hinge you need.
One compatibility gotcha with Viking equipment: the mounting brackets for a Viking swing arm are drilled for a specific bolt pattern, and it does not match the pattern on a LiftMaster or FAAC arm. If you’re swapping operators or replacing a bracket, do not assume a universal bracket will line up. We’ve had to re-drill and re-fabricate enough of those in Hempstead to know better. When it comes to OEM versus aftermarket, Viking OEM brackets and hinges are well-built, but for weld-on hinge assemblies we often fabricate a replacement in-shop to the original dimensions, because Viking’s bolt-on hinge posts are common failure points and a custom-fabricated weld-on replacement often outlasts the original. We’ll show you both options and quote both in writing before we start.

Signs Your Viking Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags toward the latch side. This is almost always a worn hinge barrel or a cracked weld at the hinge-to-frame connection. The hinge pin itself rarely wears on Viking gates; the weld around the barrel is what gives out first. Once that weld cracks, the whole leaf shifts and the latch no longer lines up.
- A creak or groan that gets worse each open and close cycle. That noise is metal rubbing on metal. It’s usually a cracked bracket flexing as the gate moves. If you ignore it, the crack spreads and the bracket fails completely. We’d rather weld it while it’s still attached than fabricate a new one after it snaps.
- The operator arm is bolted to the gate but the gate feels loose at the connection point. Viking operator arms mount to a fabricated steel bracket on the gate frame. When the bracket flexes or cracks, the operator pushes against a moving target. That’s hard on the motor and hard on the gear teeth.
- The gate scrapes the driveway or leaves a fresh mark on the concrete when it opens. A sagging gate is a hinge or weld failure, not a motor problem. The motor is working fine; it’s pushing a gate that’s no longer hanging straight. Fix the weld, and the clearance returns.
- The gate won’t fully close and the motor keeps running for a second after the gate stops. This reads like a limit switch issue, but sometimes it’s a cracked frame weld flexing just enough to throw off the sensor. We check the welds before we start swapping parts, because the sensor can’t detect a gate that’s physically twisted.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For Viking gate welding and fabrication work in Hempstead, here’s what you should expect to pay:
- Weld repair on a cracked gate frame or hinge point: $210 to $380, including grinding, welding, and a primer coat to slow corrosion.
- Fabricated replacement bracket for a Viking operator arm: $260 to $480, including cutting, drilling, welding, and fitting to your exact model.
- Custom hinge assembly, welded to the gate and post: $320 to $580, depending on gate weight and whether we need to torch the old bolts off first.
Every one of those prices includes labor, materials, and cleanup. The written quote we give you before we start is the price you pay. If we find additional damage while the gate is open, we stop work, show you what we found, and give you a new written number before we touch anything else. The work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the weld fails or the bracket cracks within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s the Garrison Standard, and it applies to every Viking repair we do in Hempstead.
DIY or Call Us?
You can check the obvious stuff yourself: look for visible cracks at the hinge welds, see if the gate has shifted on the post, and listen for that metal-on-metal creak. That’s as far as we’d advise a homeowner to go. Welding a cracked gate frame or fabricating a bracket is not a weekend job. A bad weld on a moving gate can fail catastrophically, and a Viking operator arm carries enough force to twist a gate leaf if the bracket lets go. You’re also working with 110 or 220 volt wiring if the operator arm has to come off. We’d rather come look at it for free, show you exactly what’s broken, and give you a written price before you decide. Call (516) 559-4870 and we’ll come out.
FAQs
Most Viking hinge assemblies and fabricated brackets last 8 to 12 years in Hempstead before the welds start cracking or the metal fatigues. Coastal humidity and road salt in winter shorten that on properties near the Southern State, and we see more corrosion-related weld failures in the southern parts of the village than in the neighborhoods near Hofstra. If your gate is original to the house and more than a decade old, the welds are on borrowed time.
Yes, if the crack is caught early and the surrounding metal is still sound, we grind out the crack and run a proper weld. If the hinge barrel itself is egg-shaped from wear or the bracket has cracked through in two places, we fabricate a replacement. We’ll show you the damage before we recommend one over the other, and the written price is the same either way.
Most weld repairs on a Viking gate in Hempstead take 90 minutes to 3 hours on site. Fabricating a custom bracket can take longer if we need to cut and drill in the shop, but we stock common Viking bracket patterns on the truck. We’ll give you a firm arrival window and the job is done the same day unless the gate has to be removed for shop work, which is rare.
We stock weld-on hinge assemblies, universal gate frame sleeves, and the common fabricated bracket patterns for Viking swing arms on the truck. We also carry parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls systems if you have a mixed setup. If your gate needs a Viking-specific bracket we don’t have on the truck, we fabricate it in our Hempstead shop, usually same week. Call (516) 559-4870 for an exact quote; estimates are free and the price is in writing before we start.
If the gate’s not right, we’re not done.
