Photos tell the truth faster than any claim we could make. A leaning gate post, a motor that died mid-swing, a weld that finally let go after fifteen Long Island winters. You can read about The Garrison Standard all day, but seeing a steel frame pulled square and a gate gliding on its rollers says it in one look. Here are a few jobs we’ve tackled around Hempstead, from Garden City border streets to the older lots near Hofstra.

Sagging Double Driveway Gate, Hempstead Turnpike Area
Before
AfterThe problem: both leaves of this steel driveway gate had dropped so far they met in the middle like a tired pair of bookends. The hinges were wallowed out, and one leaf dragged a two-inch groove in the asphalt every time the opener ran. What we did: removed both leaves, welded new reinforced hinge plates to the posts, and re-hung the gate with the top rail level and the closing gap even at one inch. The result: the operator no longer strains, the gate closes square against the stops, and the groove in the driveway is the only reminder anything was wrong.
Dead Swing Gate Opener, North of Hempstead Village
Before
AfterThe problem: a single-arm LiftMaster swing opener on a long residential gate had run its last cycle. The arm was still bolted to the gate, but the motor inside the housing was silent and the limit switch had stopped registering the open position. What we did: rather than patch a ten-year-old unit, we pulled it and installed a FAAC swing operator sized for the leaf weight, then set new limit switches and a fresh loop detector at the driveway edge. The result: the gate opens on the remote every time, closes without slamming, and holds position in the wind off the South Shore.
Cantilever Gate Off Its Track, Industrial Lot off Peninsula Blvd
Before
AfterThe problem: a boxed steel cantilever gate had jumped its rear truck, so the whole forty-foot leaf was riding on the front guide rollers only. Every open cycle scraped metal on metal, and the gate caught halfway across the access road. What we did: jacked the leaf, reset both trucks on the rail, and machined a new set of guide rollers to replace the worn ones that caused the jump. Then we adjusted the roller brackets so the gate carries its weight evenly across both trucks. The result: a gate that slides with a one-hand push, and a property manager who isn’t calling us every other Monday.
Welded Patch on Wrought-Iron Pedestrian Gate, Old Hempstead Neighborhood

The problem: a wrought-iron pedestrian gate off the back patio had rusted through at the bottom hinge stile. The gate still latched, but it wobbled a solid three inches side to side, and every push threatened to snap the remaining steel. What we did: cut out the rotted section, welded in a matching steel replacement stile, ground the joint flush, and re-hung the gate on new heavy-duty hinges. We hit the repair with a rust-inhibiting primer and matte black finish to match the original rail. The result: a gate that swings quietly, stands plumb, and looks like it was never touched except for the clean weld line.
Ghost Controls Slide Opener Misalignment, Residential Side Yard

The problem: a Ghost Controls chain-drive slide opener had shaken its mounting bolts loose on a concrete pad, so the chain sagged and the sprocket was eating itself. The magnetic limit switch had drifted as well, which meant the gate overshot the open stop and jammed against the post. What we did: re-anchored the operator with new wedge bolts, tensioned the drive chain to spec, replaced the worn sprocket, and reprogrammed the magnetic limits so the gate stops where it should. The result: the opener runs quiet again and the gate parks in the exact same spot every cycle.
